One of my favorite TV shows is Friends and if you’ve seen the show, you are probably familiar with the iconic scene where Ross is screaming “pivot.” This scene always reminds me of the time my first manager in my professional career right out of college asked me to automate a monthly report and compile data in Excel from various sources by creating a “Macro”. I went back to my desk and panicked because I had no clue what that even meant. Thank goodness for Google! Within the next year, I became one of the experts for the companies' data sources within various systems for our finance department.

Once I understood how data, formulas and reporting worked. I applied this knowledge to make tasks more efficient. This quickly developed into a passion for process improvement which turned into a thirst for developing technical knowledge and skill set as a now citizen developer in various platforms.
